Cinco de Mayo 2022 - Sunday May 7th
In Kansas City at Guadelupe Centers
I was a little late this year but figured I would get in to see Rose Marie's Fiesta Hispana group. As it turned out I was on time but Rose Marie wasn't quite on time so the next music group went on and Rose Marie's group followed and in turn the next dance group, Los Bailarines KC, followed her. So, I would up with Sunday pictures from two groups, some social dance and a few assorted pictures from the celebration. So, once again, the 1862 battle of Puebla was won by the Mexicans against the French. Or something like that. Anyway, here are some of my pictures from then.
Obligatory Note: Ever since the battle of Puebla in 1862 when badly outnumbered Mexican troops defeated better equipped, highly trained French troops who had not been beaten in 40 years, the fifth of May (Cinco de Mayo), has been a remembrance of the pluckiness of the "homies" beating the established big-time invaders. The "homies" won that battle but lost the war and from 1864-67 the French controlled Mexico under Maximilian as the "Second Mexican Empire."
